Last Updated on December 31, 2022

During pregnancy, women are often preoccupied with prepping for baby, staying on top of appointments, and managing their daily schedule. We typically still have to show up for work regardless of how we may be feeling that day. And Moms who have other children to care for throughout their pregnancy still need to keep up with their Mom duties.

It can be difficult. Sacrifices often have to be made. And unfortunately, our own self-care is one of the things that typically take the back seat.

Does any of this sound familiar to you?

If this is something you are currently dealing with, this is the post for you. Let’s discuss 6 self care activities you should definitely be prioritizing during your pregnancy.

1. Get Some Exercise

It’s always important to get your body moving. You should discuss with your doctor which exercises are the most appropriate throughout the different phases of pregnancy.

You don’t necessarily have to clear your schedule to fit in gym visits. However, making time to go for a walk, swim, or even do yoga from the comfort of home regularly can be very helpful.

2. Stay on Top of Your Doctor Appointments

This is a very important tip. Make sure you are staying on top of those doctor appointments! Add each appointment to your planner, schedule a reminder in your phone, and let a close friend and/or significant other know so they can help you stay on top of your appointments if you find that you’re a bit forgetful.

If you want to make sure you are at your best during and after your pregnancy, it is super important to regularly check in with your physician and follow their instructions throughout your pregnancy.

3. Take Your Vitamins

Prenatal vitamins are a must-have during pregnancy to help you fill in any nutritional gaps. The nutrients that are included in prenatal vitamins are carefully selected to ensure that both you and your baby are receiving the nutrients you need for optimal health.

4. Book a Prenatal Massage

A prenatal massage is an absolutely wonderful self-care treat to help relieve any aches or pains during pregnancy. Other benefits of prenatal massage include improved circulation, sleep quality, and mood.

5. Clean Up Your Skincare Routine

If you haven’t yet, now is a great time to eliminate as many toxins from your beauty routine as possible. This means replacing products engineered with harsh chemical with products that include cleaner and more natural ingredients.

Evereden offers skincare sets for pregnant women and kids. Little Seed Farm is another one of my personal favorites. I have tried Little Seed Farm’s deodorant creams, Elasticity Serum, Antioxidant Serum, Goat’s Milk Moisturizer, Facial mist, and activated charcoal soap — and I love it all.

6. Enjoy a Digital Detox

Cutting out some of that extra noise from the outside world can do wonders for your mental health. Taking a break from social media, turning off the TV, and just focusing on what’s in front of you can be so liberating. Not only can a digital detox free up a bunch of your time, but it also gives your brain a break from the constant stimulation.
