How to Plan a Luxury Vacation on a Budget
Set Your Budget
Before you start planning your luxurious, budget-friendly anniversary vacation, you need to set a realistic budget.
Think about how much money you can realistically spend and how much you’d like to save. Once you’ve set your budget, you can start planning your trip.
Pick Your Destination (Within Your Budget)
Now that you’ve set your budget, you’ll need to pick your dream destination.
Consider the type of vacation you’d like to have, the time of year you’d like to go, and the activities and experiences you’d like to have.
I recommend making a list of more than one destination that fits into your budget. This way, you have more than one option as you begin seeking out deals on accommodations, flights, and experiences.
Once you’ve settled on a destination, it’s time to look into the cost of accommodations.
Outline Your Vacation Must-Haves and Must-Dos
Before you start searching for accommodations, you should make a list of all the must-haves and must-dos for your vacation.
This will help you create an itinerary that fits within your budget. Some of the things you may want to include on your list are attractions, restaurants, and activities.
Look Into Cost-Effective Accommodations
Maybe skip the luxury hotel and look into an Airbnb or a small bungalow in your selected destination.
If you look outside of hotels, you may find other accommodations that give you those luxury vibes without the luxury price tag.
Cook Your Own Food
When it comes to meals, there are plenty of ways to cut costs while still enjoying a quality and memorable experience.
Prepare a romantic picnic with delicious local foods. You can set up this picnic on the beach, on your balcony, or in another beautiful space in the area.
You can also consider preparing your own food in your rental and enjoying your own private candlelit meal.
Lastly, if cooking really isn’t your thing, research nearby restaurants to see if they can fit within your budget. You can also search for coupons and discounts for restaurants in the area.
Include Transportation in Your Budget
Consider the various ways you can save money on transportation during your vacay.
Can you rent a bike? Is the public transportation safe and budget-friendly? Can you skip out on a rental car and opt for the occasional Uber?
Search for Deals and Discounts on Experiences
Finally, I am always going to encourage Major League Mommy readers to seek out discounts for products, services, travel, etc.
My motto is: “Never pay full price for anything.” If you can secure a good deal, go for it!
