Select a Theme
Before you get started with your planning, try to come up with a theme for your child’s new playroom.
Pinterest is a great place to start if you are looking for some ideas. You can choose a theme that fits your little one’s personality, or you can choose a theme or character your child is currently obsessed with.
This step is really a lot of fun and it will be a great guide for you as you plan out your playroom decor.
Incorporate Learning
I am a huge advocate for incorporating play-based learning in any way that you can, including in your playroom design.
You may choose to work with a professional to create a functional play space. But you could also do your own research and come up with some creative ways to include learning in their play. This could be as simple as adding an educational playroom rug. Or maybe you include an interactive poster as part of your decor.
You can also include things such as balance boards, musical instruments, or an indoor swing to strengthen other developmental skills. The playroom is the perfect place to enhance key developmental skills.
Add Some Color
A playroom is a place for FUN right? Well, make sure the room looks like FUN.
Add some bright colors. You can use colorful wall decals, bright colored paints, vibrant furniture, and whatever else you can come up with! And don’t worry about finding the perfect paint color. You can simply use Peel & Stick Paint Samples to test different colors on the walls without the extra hassle.
There are so many great ways to incorporate bright colors into your playroom so have some fun with this step. Add as much color to your shopping list as possible.
Outline a Plan
Now that you have selected a theme, came up with some play-based learning opportunities, and have some ideas for adding color, you can outline a step-by-step plan to build out your playroom. Doing so will make this project a lot less stressful.
Pick a starting point and take it from there. You don’t need to pull it all together at once. You can take it all one step at a time. It will all come together. And it may just be even better than you imagined.
Time to Shop!
Now that you have your plan fully outlined, it is time to work through that shopping list!
Try to search for deals on products you need to complete this project. You don’t need to empty out your bank account to create your dream playroom. You can create something wonderful at a very reasonable cost. I highly recommend that you check out my couponing post for some ideas on how you can save on your shopping list.
