If you have been following MajorLeagueMommy for the past month or so, you may have seen that I was trying out a new diet plan to help me achieve several goals which include: increasing my energy levels, shedding some stubborn weight, and improving my overall quality of life. So, after completing my third week on this new plan let’s see how things are going . . .
About Those Goals
As I mentioned earlier, there were three main goals that I was trying to achieve with this diet plan. I am proud to report that in just 3 weeks, I am already seeing some results.
Energy levels- Thankfully, I have seen a boost in my energy levels which was right on time since I found myself spending wayyyyy more time with the kiddos during this whole social distancing phase. I wasn’t expecting to become a full-time teacher in the midst of my already crazy schedule, but here we are. Luckily, I have found that I have more energy to knock out my own personal work while handling my other household duties and working with the kids on their schoolwork.
Weight Loss- I have not stepped on a scale, but I have been measuring my waistline, and am pleased to see that I am down two inches! Every inch counts here so I am pretty excited about that.
Quality of Life- We are in the middle of a rather crazy time right now (globally) but I have actually been feeling pretty good. My energy is up and I have generally been in a positive mood despite all the madness. I have also been very productive which is something I can appreciate. With this extra time spent at home, I am glad that I have the energy to work on some fun home improvement projects that I have been pondering.
What I Love About the Book
Bestselling author, Joel Marion, is a fitness expert and nutritionist debunking the myths underlying traditional dieting and offers a simple, highly effective weight loss program. His Always Eat After 7PM program makes dieting easy and eliminates 90% of reasons for resistance, and I believe that is why I have actually been able to stick with it so far. “Scientists have established that consuming at least 20 grams of protein stimulates muscle protein synthesis for two to five hours after eating a meal. One of my favorite recipes included in the book is the yummy Cheesy Ground Beef Skillet. The whole family enjoyed that dish, and we certainly have plans to make it again (perhaps as the stuffing in our bell peppers)!
