It can be so hard finding the time to get creative when you have another dozen things that you know you should be doing. We know that it is good for us to switch off and indulge like this as it engages and develops a different side of our brains and helps us to relax. The trouble is that we rarely prioritize time for creativity, because we often cannot find a way to squeeze it in to our week. This is where we come in today as we share with you a little inspiration with our 3 Tips to Boost Creativity.

Keep a journal

This one is so easy to start, requires just a notepad and pen, and you can take as much or as little time as you want to over it. For this reason, we would suggest that this is the perfect way to fit a little creativity into your life.

Your journal is completely personal to you so you can do whatever you want with it. You might note down your thoughts and feelings, letting the words flow onto the page. You might choose to doodle and draw in it, or keep photographs in there documenting your days or a project that you are working on.

You can theme your journal or you can make it a more general creative outlet for you. You might choose to create several sections within it, from writing poetry to documenting your travels.

Remember that this journal is for your eyes only. No-one is going to be looking at it and measuring how talented your work is, you need to allow yourself to be completely free with it and let those creative juices flow.

Make it practical

If you are struggling with taking time out to do something creative, then make it into something practical. Whilst we would advocate setting time aside in your week to get creative, we appreciate that not everyone can prioritize it, so by turning it into something useful you are more likely to go for it.

Perhaps you need to write cards, then you can try your hand at beautiful calligraphy. Or maybe you are artistic and can whip up a sketch or two to decorate your new hallway?

Alternatively, you could make your own custom stickers to label and decorate with. If this is of interest to you, then look into the vinylcuttingmachineguide ‘best vinyl cutting machine’ for features and reviews, select one and go have fun with it!

Get the whole family involved

This one cannot fail to get you crafting. The first thing that you need to do is plan in an afternoon craft session with your family and tell your children about it. If they know it is coming, there is no chance they will let you forget about it so it will ensure that it happens!

It is completely up to you what you choose to do. You might get some seasonally themed craft kits in, you might get paper and paints out or you might empty the contents of your craft kits over the table and have a free for all session.
